A book adventure

The first seconds decide.

I'm in a huge book and media store in Berlin. They lure me with 1000 promises. Those to entertain me, others to enlighten my knowledge, again others who want to show me colourful pictures and show me the whole world. I can't buy them all because I can't manage to read it all and my budget is not high enough.
One thing is clear, I'll find the biggest of all promises, I'll buy and read exactly that what thrills me most. But what is the biggest promise? It is the cover only. The design, the blurp and back text and in how it attracts a few moments of my imagination.

I liked them, the purely typographic envelopes of Suhrkamp and Rothfuchs. But they were never promising. I had to read these books as it was a must for general education, school and studies.
I was wondering so many times, how can you pack the wonderful content so badly? It's like wrapping pralines in newspaper.
